Resting Merry with Duane S. Montague

The idea of resting merry is not new–it dates back to medieval times, when the phrase “rest you merry” was first recorded. It was a wish for joy, peace, and a pleasant, ongoing state of goodness. While the phrase today is firmly part of the Christmas lexicon, it means so much more. In the original book focused on Christmas and in the podcast series, focusing on resting merry 364 other days of the year, my hope is to help all of us find the best way to live in that pleasant state of joy, peace, contentment, hope, and so much more. In other words, discovering together how we can rest merry!

Resting Merry: Finding Joy & Peace at Christmas began as a series of posts on social media, became a best-selling book for the holidays in 2018, and was completely revised and updated in a new edition in 2022. The book has sold thousands of copies worldwide, shared by readers with friends and family for the holidays, given away at conferences, and talked about on radio shows at Christmastime.

I love sharing about Christmas and talk about it frequently when I speak at churches and conferences, as well as on social media, and through my email newsletter. You can connect with me on Facebook, Instagram, and find my books for sale on Amazon.

Resting Merry: Finding Joy & Peace in Your Life launched in October 2022 as a way of helping readers of my book take the idea of “resting merry” out of Christmas and putting it where it belongs: in the everyday messiness of life. In 5-10 minute episodes, I share thoughts on life, marriage, parenting, movies, books, the Bible, and, yes, Christmas.

You can find the Resting Merry podcast on all major streaming services. If you like what you hear, your support will keep it going and provide content for the podcast, new books, and more! Thank you for listening, and thank you for your support!
