The largest celebration of anime in the United States, AnimeExpo is an annual convention at the Los Angeles Convention Center that attracts hundreds of thousands of fans, cosplayers, and stars for three days every July.
Working with the talented team of artists and graphic designers, I was honored to help direct the overall design for AnimeExpo 2019 and AnimeExpo Lite for 2020 and 2021. The team created wayfinding, digital maps, print media, placemaking, and more–while also updating the brand identity for AnimeExpo’s parent organization, The Society for the Promotion of Japanese Animation.
I also was honored to lead a one-day vision course as part of SPJA’s annual team meetings at the Garland Hotel in Beverly Hills. As part of this event, I helped define the story and big idea behind the brand redesign, thematic elements for a new office design, and more.
